Miu Miu, the name itself evokes a playful nature. And that’s exactly what this brand of sunglasses exude. They are big. Round. Fun. And they are perfect for summer.

Yes, they are different. But they’re more than that. They are head turners. They are sexy. They are retro. For women, they’re everything you want in sunglasses. Put on a pair of Miu Mius and you’ll not only feel happy, but you’ll make those around you feel the same.
Miu Miu is the brainchild of Miuccia Prada, the Italian designer who rose to fame more than three decades ago thanks to her fashionable handbags made under the Prada name. She expanded the business to include all forms of fashion, including sunglasses (you can find our Prada line here).
While some may view her as all glitz and no substance, that is far from the case. She earned her PhD in political science from the University of Milan. She followed that up with, of all things, a five-year stint as a mime. This was the foundation for an entirely different career that began in 1978 when she joined her family’s business. Those disparate ventures served as basis for both her creativity – seen in the nonconformity of her designs – and her intellectualism which she uses to espouse her beliefs on everything from aging to feminism.
Still, it is fashion where Miuccia Prada has made her mark on the world. She did it first with Prada. And then, once again, with Miu Miu. She launched the brand in 1992 as a more affordable line that still maintained the high quality that Prada embraced. The name is derived from Miuccia’s nickname.
Like its founder, Miu Miu is always reinventing itself, refusing to be pigeonholed as just one specific adjective. Instead, it is a conglomeration of the best that Miuccia Prada has to offer, particularly for those who want a high level of sophistication in a brand without negating that – a youthful and whimsical nature – which makes the sunglasses so unique. For these reasons, the sunglasses continue to outperform the competition; if you want unique, you choose Miu Miu.
As for Miuccia Prada, the 67-year-old is still going strong. Her Prada fashion shows are always must-see affairs thanks to her inventiveness and willingness to try new styles. Six years ago, she was named the McKim Medal Laureate for her achievements in fashion and business. Two years later, an exhibit of her work was shown at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Like wine, Miuccia Prada and her products, continue to get better with age.
Words of an Icon: “Women always try to tame themselves as they get older, but the ones who look best are often a bit wilder.” – Miuccia Prada
